A Rich and Storied Past
The history of King Salmon is deeply connected to both its ancient native heritage and its more recent role as a strategic military outpost during World War II. The area has long been a vital fishing and hunting ground for local peoples. The modern town grew around the airbase built in the 1940s, and remnants of this history can still be seen today, adding a fascinating layer to the rugged, natural beauty of the region.
