RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS In order to secure your water taxi date and preferences, guests are encouraged to make their reservations at least six months to one year in advance. Full payment of $195.00 (includes park service fee) for each round trip ticket is required to confirm your reservation. Changes in reservation dates are considered cancellations and are subject to our cancellation policy. Because of our exclusive limited availability and short season, payments received are non-refundable. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. No refunds will be made for late arrivals and early departures, or for cancellations due to adverse weather or acts of God. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. We accept all major credit cards. DISCLOSURE/RESPONSIBILITY Katmai Water Taxi, LLC. will not be held responsible for any loss or injury to participants, for personal property, or for any cancellation expenses or delays incurred as a result of weather, transportation, or by act of God. Katmai Water Taxi LLC reserves the right to withdraw and/or cancel any trip for the safe and proper handling of the excursion. All guests have the responsibility to disclose any special medical, physical needs to us. We recommend that you secure travel insurance. All rates are subject to change without prior notice, but will not affect any bookings previously confirmed, paid, and ticketed. Katmai Water Taxi reserves the right to refuse service to any guest that is deemed intoxicated, or a risk to other passengers at the managements discretion. BEARS We frequently have bears who wander through the embarkation area, as well as Moose and other Alaska wildlife. It is the parent’s responsibility to keep children in sight and supervised at all times, inside and outside the water taxi.

Water Taxi vs. Float Planes

Float Plane Cons: You can choose whichever mode of transportation best suits your needs. Both the Water Taxi and the Float Plane are options available for your travel into Katmai National Park and Brooks Falls. Here are a few cons to using the Float Plane over the Water Taxi. Cost / You will pay substantially more to take a float plane to Brooks Camp / Brooks Falls. Weather / Float Planes are very restrictive with fog, wind etc. Very often flights are delayed and cancelled due to weather that will not affect the water taxi schedule. Access / Float Planes are very difficult to access for handicapped and elderly guests. Comfort / Float Planes are very small and have tight quarters. Guests often are shoulder to shoulder. Katmai Water Taxi is a large enclosed transport with climate controlled comfortable, spacious seating. Bear Jams / At Brooks the bear’s are in control. If a bear is asleep on a trail or near the bridge you will be required to wait. Sometimes a bear jam can last for hours and if you miss your flight which is common, you may find yourself without lodging availability in King Salmon. Katmai Water Taxi can pick you up on the far side of the bridge which eliminates most of the bear jams that cause flights to be missed. The float planes can only pick up on the beach which is on the far side of the bridge or sometimes if the wind is wrong you will have to hike to Brooks Lake for pick up. Limited Departure and Pick Up / The Float Plane’s only run until 7PM and are in high demand for anglers to fly into remote locations. Katmai Water Taxi is dedicated for the transportation of guests from Lake Camp to Brooks Camp with far more departure and pick up options. Weight and Freight / Float Planes have a very limited weight and balance capabilities. Often bags must be left behind for follow up freight runs, and guests are limited to a back pack. Katmai Water Taxi has a great deal more capability for taking bags, and freight.

Safety Information

We frequently have bears who wander through the embarkation areas, as well as Moose and other Alaska wildlife. It is the parent’s responsibility to keep children in sight and supervised at all times, inside and outside the water taxi. All passengers including all children are required to stay in their seats, and to follow all crew member instructions.
